White, Fordham-Hernandez and Zimmerman win awards
St. Lawrence University faculty and staff received awards for outstanding service at Convocation, held on campus August 30, marking the start of the academic year. Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures Steven White received the J. Calvin Keene Award; Assistant Professor of Performance and Communication Arts Traci Fordham-Hernandez was given the Louis and Frances Maslow Award; and Christine Zimmerman, director of institutional research, received the John P. Bloomer Lecture features Alumnus Van Wie
William
A. Van Wie, a 1967 St. Lawrence University graduate, will give
the 2007 R.O. and Vera Bloomer Lecture, on the topic "Exploration
for Oil and Gas in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico: New Discoveries,
New Challenges." The lecture, open to the public, free of
charge, is on Friday, September 14, at 8 p.m. in Eben Holden Conference
Center on campus. It is part of the sixth St. Lawrence University
Geology Alumni Conference, being held on campus September 13 through

Library celebrates publication of Prof. Cowser's book
The
Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries at St. Lawrence
University will celebrate the publication of Scorekeeping: Essays
from Home, by Associate Professor of English Bob Cowser Jr., with
a gathering on Friday, September 14, at 4 p.m. in the Josephine
Young Room of Owen D. Young Library. Cowser will speak at the event,

Chung participates in prestigious policy expo
Charlotta
Chung '08, of Clifton Park, NY, participated in the Roosevelt Policy
Expo 2007 in Washington, D.C. in July. It is an event of the Roosevelt
Institute, the only "think tank" devoted to public policy
written by students.
