St. Lawrence University Class of 1991 graduate C. Kirk Kellogg, founder and chief executive officer of Kellogg Group, LLC, a Wall Street specialist firm operating on the New York Stock Exchange and American Stock Exchange, has been elected to a six-year term on the University's Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2006. St. Lawrence men's crew team member Andrew Kraus '09, of Devon, PA, spends a lot of time on the water for his sport, but from July 3 through 6, he ran a 100-mile race through the Namib Desert in Namibia, Africa. Read More
Be sure to check the Saints Athletics site regularly now, as fall sports teams are in training and feature stories are being posted. Check out the Football site, where daily updates from training camp bring you up close and personal with the team. Football also will have guest coaches on the sidelines at each home game: Carol Bate, career services; Hillory Oakes, English and Munn Writing Center; Pamela Thacher, psychology; Harlan Lowry, dining and conference services; Tom James ’67, sociology; and Michael Schuckers, mathematics.

A number of current and former St. Lawrence faculty members are teaching fall courses for the Potsdam SOAR (Society of Active Retirees). SOAR is a "lifelong learning group for adults," offering peer learning opportunities for area residents of retirement age in a wide variety of topics. Professor Emerita of Modern Languages Ruth Kreuzer is a member of SOAR's Board of Directors, as well as the director of the organization's Web site. Read more

Timothy de la Bruere '04, of Newport, VT, has been named to the newly formed Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs by Governor Jim Douglas.Read more
Paul Castron '86 has been named the Columbus Blue Jackets' director of amateur scouting. His responsibilities include overseeing all amateur scouting efforts by the club in North America and Europe. Read more
St. Lawrence in the News
An interview with Director of the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Cathy Tedford was included in a special, titled "Travel Advisory: Trapped Behind the Lines," that aired on Discovery's Travel Channel on August 21. The program was about Americans who have been caught up in political upheaval or similar crises while traveling abroad. Tedford was with a group of St. Lawrence students on a University-sponsored study trip to Nepal several years ago when there were murders at the royal palace there.
