Keep
your eyes on the progress of construction through the Johnson
Hall of Science photo album, newly updated, and visit the many related
news stories on our Web site about the sciences.
St. Lawrence received a challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation
last fall to help fund science facilities construction. In order to
meet the challenge, the University
must raise just over $4.1 million in new gifts and pledges for
the project by April 1, 2007. The University broke ground in May 2005
for the $36.9 million, state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable
design for biology, chemistry, biochemistry, neuroscience and psychology.

North
Country Public Radio, based at St. Lawrence University, is the recipient
of a $330,000 grant from The New York State Music Fund for UpNorth
Music, a project to spotlight and promote regional musicians. Over
the next two years, a team from NCPR will travel around the North
Country to record a wide variety of musical acts, and will present
performances through on-air broadcast, podcasts, CDs, and concerts.

Participating
in an archaeological "dig" in Africa, exploring a Caribbean
coral reef and studying art in one of the great European capitals
were among the experiences St. Lawrence students had while taking
Summerterm 2006 courses taught off campus. The courses allow study
abroad without committing to an entire semester or year away from
the University. This is the first year that a summer version of St.
Lawrence's very popular program of study in Kenya was offered. Read
