Keep
your eyes on the progress of construction through the Johnson
Hall of Science photo album, newly updated, and visit the many related
news stories on our Web site about the sciences.
St. Lawrence received a challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation
last fall to help fund science facilities construction. In order to
meet the challenge, the University
must raise just over $4.1 million in new gifts and pledges for
the project by April 1, 2007. The University broke ground in May 2005
for the $36.9 million, state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable
design for biology, chemistry, biochemistry, neuroscience and psychology.

Amidon '94, of Portland, Maine, a former U.S. Women's National Team
player who has spent the last eight seasons of her professional career
as the highly successful head coach of the Bowdoin College women's
ice hockey team, has been named USA Hockey's first-ever director of
Women's Hockey Operations. Read

June 15, 2006, the United Nations Association of the USA Council of
Organizations awarded its prestigious Eleanore Schnurr Award to Virginia
Hazzard '40. The award, presented annually, honors an individual for
a long and exceptional commitment to the goals and work of the United
