Campus Alert

To:       The St. Lawrence Community
From:    Patrick Gagnon, Director of Security and Safety
Date:    September 22, 2007

Security and Safety staff is investigating a report of a sexual assault of a St. Lawrence student that occurred between 11:20 and 11:30 p.m. Friday, September 21, inside a St. Lawrence sorority chapter house.  While maintaining the integrity of the investigation, I provide you with as much information as I am able, and ask for any assistance anyone can provide.

At the time of the reported assault, a social gathering was taking place at the chapter house.  There is no evidence of forced entry to the building.  The alleged assailant is reported to be a college-aged male; with dark, short hair; thin body type; about 5’7” to 5’8” tall; wearing glasses and a blue shirt. He has not been apprehended.  Again, I ask for any information that you may have that would assist us in this investigation; please call my office x5555.

The survivor was taken to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment and released.  Our Advocates Program staff responded along with Security and Safety staff.

The St. Lawrence Advocates are trained faculty, staff and students who can help with emotional support, counseling, legal or campus judicial advice, hospital care or information about options available for any of these needs.  Katie Protos coordinates our Advocates Program and may be contacted at x5122.  A 24-hour hotline is available through 244-5466, and the Security and Safety office is staffed hours a day, seven days a week at x5555.
