Sustainability Semester Seeks Host Sites for Internships
The Sustainability Semester will hold an informational session for local businesses and organizations that are interested in sponsoring a St. Lawrence student intern for eight to 10 weeks during the summer to assist with sustainability-related projects.
We are offering all students who are enrolled in the spring 2014 Sustainability Semester, as well as alumni of the 2013 Sustainability Semester, the opportunity to earn a paid internship. We are currently seeking business, nonprofit organizations and government partners that will provide students with internships related to the diverse aspects of sustainability. We are primarily seeking internship sites in Northern New York and in Boston, the location of our urban sustainability component.
It is through the generous support of the University’s alumni, that the Semester will be able to offer students participating in the program the opportunity for paid summer internships. These opportunities will simultaneously give our students experience working toward solutions for sustainability issues and provide capacity for the organization or business partner.
Members of local businesses and organizations who may be interested in partnering with the University are invited to attend a special informational session to learn more about St. Lawrence’s Sustainability Semester and this unique internship program.
While attendance at this meeting will not guarantee placement of an intern, defining a project that a student would be working on during their internship is the first step for developing successful partnerships. University staff will answer questions and assist attendees with defining a project.
The informational session will take place at 7 p.m., Dec. 3, in the back classroom at the Cornell Cooperative Extension located on State Route 68 in Canton.
