Student Profiles
Adrienne Woodworth '10

Adrienne Woodworth '10 is still a student, and already she’s a published scholar. A research paper co-authored by Woodworth, of Burke, NY, was published in the June 2009 edition of the SIGACCESS Newsletter. Read Adrienne Woodworth's paper in the SIGACCESS Newsletter. The paper, "Combating Obesity Trends in Teenagers Through Persuasive Mobile Technology," was based on her research in the National Science Foundation-funded Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program at the University of California at Santa Cruz. SIGACCESS is a special-interest group of the Association for Computing Machinery.

“Having a paper published was so thrilling,” she says. “Getting published as an undergraduate is rare.”

Adrienne is a graduate of Franklin Academy and is a computer science major at St. Lawrence. She is a mentor in the Quantitative Resource Center and is an Augsbury/North Country Scholar. “St. Lawrence seemed like a good fit for me because I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in and SLU offers a wide variety of programs,” she says. “I visited the campus several times and really liked the atmosphere.

“As a computer science major, watching the department grow has been amazing,” she says. “I was on the search committee when we hired our newest professor.  We are setting up new computer labs and I have built four desktops.”

Adrienne is coordinator of The Hub theme house, which is dedicated to electronic gaming. “Living in a theme community has been such a meaningful experience,” she says. “I absolutely love living with all of my friends and being able to put on events for campus, such as our Game Nights in the student center.”  She also works in the Information Technology department, repairing computers.  She hopes for a career in network storage and information management, or to earn her master’s degree in computer science.
