Simba Pasipanodya ’06, Harare, Zimbabwe knows
that “it’s the people that make the difference” at
St. Lawrence.
Pasipasnodya, a computer
science and economics major
from Harare, Zimbabwe has taken full advantage of the myriad possibilities
available at St. Lawrence. As a member of the Cricket Club, SLU
Buddies (mentoring program), and Club Soccer team just
to name a few, Simba has given his talent and dedication to every facet of campus
life. But of all the activities on his busy schedule, his dedication to the Alpha
Tau Omega fraternity and their work on and off campus has been the most
inspiring. “The
opportunity to not only work, but live with a group of motivated brothers has
helped me think and work with a group and independently as well.”
Through
his work developing the club soccer team on campus, Pasipasnodya
has come to realize the meaning of hard work. “[I’ve] learned a ton about
how to run a club sport, there’s lots of responsibility.”
"The richness of the cultural experience at St. Lawrence
University is the one thing I will miss when I graduate. Students from
almost every state, close to 30 countries, and almost every ethnic
background imaginable are blended together to form this wonderful community.
We all take part in the university’s numerous abroad programs, modern
languages classes, classes in literature, anthropology, history, and
in student clubs and organizations. Each of these activities celebrates
the importance of cultural diversity and you’re left more enriched
every time you participate. That’s what gets me excited!”
