Tim Morse ’07 has found a professional goal in his
work with SLU admissions.
Having worked as an admissions management
assistant since his sophomore year, Tim, of Copenhagen, N.Y., and
a graduate of Copenhagen Central School, has shifted his career
interest from mathematics to educational administration.
He remains a math major, with minors in education and statistics.
In summer 2006, Tim was one of six students selected as an admissions
summer intern from a competitive pool of applicants. He says, “I
learned to run the front desk, and my assigned projects
have helped me to become much more independent.” All
of this experience has led Tim to think of a post-graduate career
as an admissions counselor at St. Lawrence or another educational
institution.
Tim is also a statistics teaching assistant at St. Lawrence,
and is a tutor at a local high school with Bridging
a Gap, a mentoring program for elementary and older kids. He
is also a member of SLU
Act , a community service student organization.
Also an Augsbury
North Country Scholar, Tim has no qualms about going to college
close to where he grew up. “I live one and a half hours from
home,” he says. “It’s close enough to go home
and have your mom cook for you, but far enough that I can feel
independent. Besides, there is always so much to do on
campus, and St. Lawrence is a reasonable driving distance from
cities like Ottawa, Burlington, Montreal and Syracuse.”
When asked to describe his time at St. Lawrence, Tim says, “It
is a great balance between hard work and a lot of fun.”
