International study was what attracted Jana Morgan to
St. Lawrence University. Jana, a junior government major from
Sackets Harbor, NY, and Sackets Harbor High School, has acted upon
that attraction, and will have studied in three countries on
two continents, all through St. Lawrence programs, by the time she
graduates.
She
explains, “Studying on the Vienna program had a
great impact on me. I was able to travel throughout Europe while focusing
on Viennese culture; I was also able to experience living in a city.
I participated in research project in India over the
January 2006 break between semesters, and next fall I will be on
St. Lawrence’s program in Shanghai, China.”
Whether
she’s taking St. Lawrence courses on campus or abroad, Jana says, “I
love having classes where you cannot get an easy 4.0. It’s
great when a professor challenges the way I think and can push
me to work harder.”
Jana
is also a member of the Rugby Club. “I played sports
all through high school,” she says, “and was worried
I wouldn't have an athletic outlet at St. Lawrence. Thankfully,
I found a group in which I could be part of a team.”
Following
graduation, Jana plans on working toward master’s and doctoral
degrees, and then “work on the international scene with a focus
on human rights.”
