For Bridget Lennon ’11 the path to law school is paved with leadership opportunities on campus. Lennon was elected Vice President of Senate Affairs of the SLU student government, known as
Thelmo, last fall. She says she ran “because, being interested in law, tasks like reviewing the Thelmo constitution and looking for flaws really interest me.”
Lennon said she joined Thelmo immediately when she came to SLU, following her father’s advice to take advantage of leadership opportunities “because
students on a college campus like SLU have a lot of power and say in what happens” on their campus.
Her duties as vice president include updating the Thelmo Web site, re-evaluating the organization’s constitution, and tracking and reviewing the constitutions of student clubs. Lennon said she wants “to work in conjunction with the rest of the executive board with our ideas on
revamping the theme houses [residences formed by interest groups], and improving campus safety and security.”
In the classroom Lennon is also preparing for law school by pursuing a
psychology major and
performance and communication arts minor, saying “the combination really applies to the study of law. They are also really interesting to study side by side because they are so different, yet they complement each other well.”
Lennon also works at
men’s hockey games, is a playgroup assistant for the psychology department, and recently joined the Judicial Appeals Board, which she says also relates to her study of law. The Avon, CT, native and 2007 graduate of Avon High School added that she hopes to study on SLU’s
Washington, DC, semester, but has been hesitant to set rigid plans for the future. “I’m just working on living every day and leaving my future open!” she avows.
