What is gender-neutral housing?

Gender neutral housing is an option in which two students may share a multiple-occupancy residence hall room, in mutual agreement, regardless of either students’ sex or gender.

Where is it available?

Gender neutral housing is only available in rooms assigned as upper-class student housing; it is not available to students in the First-Year Program

Besides being Kenyan, I am a free thinker, a technology enthusiast and a zealous student of LIFE. I like experiencing other people's cultures, love to travel and exchanging ideas. I also like to learn from other people's experiences both good and bad. I do a whole lot of stuff involving computers and I read a little. I am a rugby player and big rugby fan.

As a CA, I look forward to having a great experience with the members of my community, working with them and generally having fun.

I am a northern New York girl, growing up just 35 minutes in scenic Gouverneur, where the main attraction is the giant lifesaver in the park. My whole life I have been involved in music and theater, and am proud to say I am a part of the Laurentian Singers on campus. When school isn’t on my mind I like to paint! My goal in life is to turn history- a subject stereotyped in grade school as a snooze fest-to something exciting for students to learn about.

As a CA, I am looking forward to being able to build and get to know my community, and help them out with any problems they may face along their way as first year.

I am a Dominican American from NYC interested in aiding people in help with internal and external social conflicts. I grew up very family oriented and love meeting new people. I love to challenge my peers societies teachings while learning and formulating my new views on controversial and intense situations.

When school isn't on my mind, I travel and learn about other peoples cultures. I like to listen to music, dance, and be around friends and family.

As a CA, I am excited to work with my residents to provide a safe and comfortable space, and ultimately be a mentor for them.

I am very interested in pursuing a career in the business field, particularly in Finance. I am extremely organized. I spend a lot of my time planning out things that I want to do before I do it (i.e going abroad, choosing a major, etc.). I enjoy working with children!

As a CA, I am looking forward to providing a community that is welcoming and understanding, and to see the students work together as a group to create such an atmosphere.

I’m a proud Washingtonian who loves to travel! My sport, diving, lead me to SLU, where I have another year and a half of school. You might see me working with animals, whether wildlife or domestic, being outdoors, doing crafty things, or running around campus!

Hmmm what do I love to do? Traveling! Eating! Cooking! I’m also a talker and a laugher. Aside from singing, and dancing I love changing my hair! I think I change my hair 4 – 5 times a week and I always wear a flower! Hair is lifeless without a flower! Changing my hair is very comforting. It’s where I’m the most creative and expressive. I can do whatever I want with my canvas. There is no direction, no rules, just me and my imagination. I love intricacy!

There’s so much I could say about my experiences at SLU! One of the best and most recent experiences was my McNair summer. Apply if you haven’t already! Last summer I was granted the opportunity to research Black English. The name of my project was, “It’s Pronounced Ask: The Consequences of Speaking Black English.” Life changing! Spirit Moving! Inspirational! This experience helped me understand where I wanted to go academically and what my subjects of interest are. I was given a lot of one on one attention that most students wouldn’t have access to. I know a lot more about GRE’s, how to properly search for Grad schools, how to present a research paper, how to prepare a personal statement and various other crucial skill. The McNair program has definitely helped me become more marketable. I appreciated every meeting and every log we had to keep to document the journey of our research. The work was strenuous sometimes but knowing that I had a team definitely made it more manageable. I’ve presented my research at Buffalo, at St. Lawrence, and in a few weeks I’ll be presenting at SUNY Potsdam. Each presentation has impacted my research every time I present it. Not only do I have the opportunity to each other people but I’m also teaching myself.

After traveling abroad to France, I now have the study abroad bug! I’m hoping to study in Trinidad and participate in the Semester at Sea Program.
