Student Life Profiles
Danielle Weaver ’07

Danielle “Danni” Weaver ’07 knows that when she helps people, she has an impact.

During Spring Break in 2006, Danni participated in a trip to Los Angeles as part of her Transformational Leadership class.  “We worked with inner-city schools on peacemaking skills and anti-bullying,” she says.  “I knew by the time I got back to campus that I could make a difference in someone’s life.”  Later that spring, Danni was given the Citizenship Award at Moving-Up Day.

Since Danni, who is from Jamestown, NY, and is a history major and educational studies minor, arrived at St. Lawrence, she’s been actively involved in myriad activities.  She was First-Year Council president and was the Class of 2007 president the spring of her sophomore year as well as her junior year.

“I wanted to influence students’ lives,” says the Southwestern High School graduate. “I wanted to be a voice for students and convey their ideas and thoughts to the administration.”

Danni is a student delegate to the Alumni Executive Council. “I have met so many alumni and every single one of them has been so amazing--outgoing and positive about St. Lawrence,” she says.  “I hoped that by being a delegate I would give [the Council] an active student’s perspective.”

Danni has presented at the Leadership Conference, which is held annually on campus, the past two years.  In 2006, she did a presentation on group dynamics and Tuckman’s Theory.  “The previous year, I ran a presentation called, ‘Sit Steady in the Boat and let the Waves Come to You,’” she explains.  “My message to students was ways to help balance their lives and make positive choices so that down the road they don’t get stressed out.”

After graduation, Danni plans on attending graduate school for higher education, and credits this decision to the faculty and staff at St. Lawrence. “They make you feel like you are the most important person when you walk into their office,” she says.  They really take the time to get to know you.”
