Starting one club and running another are what St. Lawrence is about for Kelly Sleight, a junior from Fairfield, Maine. The Lawrence High School graduate explains, “Starting the Alpine Ski Racing Club showed me what student action can do and that it's really easy here to have your voice heard. And being president of ACE has been a huge learning experience.” “ACE” is the student-run Association for Campus Entertainment, which sets up concerts, performances, movies and other activities. Kelly is also an admissions tour guide, which she describes as “awesome because it’s great to show people how much I love this school!

“The people were what really brought me to St. Lawrence,” says Kelly. “The second I stepped on campus everybody was extremely friendly and eager to talk to me. It was like a big family, and I appreciate that now more than ever.”

In true liberal arts fashion, the sociology major says “There have been so many professors that I've learned immeasurable amounts from. What I've loved the most are the discussions. My professors don't presume to know more than we do, and they enjoy getting us to see things in new ways. They engage us and make the learning experience awesome!”

After St. Lawrence, Kelly plans to apply to the Peace Corps and then attend graduate school.
