Kate McCaffrey is the center of activity. As director
of co-curricular education and programming, Kate McCaffrey has an office
that’s at the heart and soul of the new Student Center,
a position that symbolizes the centrality of her work with
students.
Kate helps guide student
government, Greek
life, cultural events and leadership development. She also
advises class officers, plans special events for seniors, assists
in planning Family
Weekend, and directs both fall and spring orientation of
new students. Since she arrived at St. Lawrence in 2001, she’s
had the chance to work with the Center
for Civic Engagement, which has the LeadershipAcademy and
the Center for Collegiate Volunteerism as two very popular programs.
Helping students discover their leadership potential and find ways
to use their leadership skills is Kate’s passion. Helping
every student make St. Lawrence the place they can be their best
is her reason for being here.
Having so many offices in the same building unites the campus, says
Kate about the Student Center that opened in 2004. Students can
check their mail, get something to eat in the Northstar
Cafe, talk with Career
Services staff about summer internships, cash a check at Student
Financial Services, and attend a student
organization meeting, all in one stop. The Student Center is
open 24/7, and Kate can count on greeting students anytime day or night
she is in the building.
McCaffrey joined the St. Lawrence staff in 2001. She received her B.A.
from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and her M.A. at Colorado
State University.
