Director of Health and Counseling Services Patricia Ellis sees her job as one of integration. She has spent much of the last year with her colleagues integrating health and counseling services, with a focus on “
treating the whole student body for both physical and psychological issues,” she says. The impetus for this has been the
Diana B. Torrey ’82 Health and Counseling Center, which was dedicated in fall 2006.
“The most rewarding part of my work is the opportunity to collaborate with such wonderful, knowledgeable people,” Ellis says. “Since I was given the opportunity to be the director of health and counseling,
I have received outstanding support of my vision and efforts to make the Torrey Center a ‘state of the art’ facility for comprehensive health care delivery.
“The most exciting project this year is our participation in a national collaborative to screen and treat students with depression,” Ellis says. We are benchmarking our results against national standards and other health and counseling services.”
In her time away from St. Lawrence, Ellis enjoys spending time with her children and dogs; she also likes to read, garden and cook. She earned her degrees at Illinois Wesleyan University and SUNY at Utica/Rome.
