Family Weekend 2011
We are happy to announce that Family Weekend 2011 will be held on Friday, September 23rd through Sunday, September 25th. We invite you to come and enjoy a weekend on campus exploring life at SLU as well as in the Canton community. The weekend’s activities will include a variety of programs that will allow you to explore the academic life, resources, athletic events, arts and other opportunities that shape the student experience at SLU.

Area Events
In addition to the events and activities on campus there are also some additional festivities happening in Canton and the surrounding area.
- The Remington Arts Festival is a celebration of art and artists in the North Country. Due to the University's close relationship with Canton and the North Country, Family Weekend is collaborating with the Remington Arts Festival to provide information on specific festival events on the Family Weekend schedule. For a complete list of events being hosted by the Festival, please visit the Remington Arts Festival website.
- The Carp Angling World Championship, Held on the St. Lawrence River, based at Waddington from September 24-30. This world tourney is expected to draw more than 100 two-person teams from the United States, England, France, Holland, Germany, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada, South Africa, Romania, Japan, Ukraine and Bosnia. - The Local Living Festival -- A Celebration of Resourceful Living features serious fun and delightful education for all, with over 75 speakers, skills-building workshops, performances, and demonstrations of simple living, rural, and "do-it-yourself" resources and skills to take place from 9 - 5 over a full two-day schedule on September 24 and 25 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm, 2043 Rt. 68, 2.3 miles from the Stewart's on Main Street/Rt. 11in Canton. A donation of $5 per person, per day is requested -- FREE for anyone arriving on alternative transit (gasoline-free). A free shuttle by St. Lawrence County Transportation (www.CommuterBusInfo.com) will be available from the parking lot at the main Cooperative Extension offices - watch for the signs on Rt. 68.
