Kara Kauffman
My journey to SLU began with a B.A in Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. I went on to earn my Ed. M in College Student Personnel from Ohio University.
I have spent a number of years working with college students in a variety of ways. I worked as a Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader and Residential Coordinator for Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. At Ohio University I was the advisor for the International Student Union and Coordinator for International Student Orientation. I look forward to encouraging, coaching and supporting students in their development here at St. Lawrence University.
I work with the First Year Programs. The areas/buildings that I oversee are Gaines, Rebert and Whitman, and I also serve as the advisor for First Year Council.
In my free time I love to create. I write, knit and paint. I am an avid book collector and read everything I can get my hands on! Since moving to the North Country, I have discovered a passion for being outside, hiking and enjoying what this beautiful and rich area has to offer. My philosophy in life is simple – be happy, seek joy in everything; and I work every day to instill similar values in the students I work with.
