Ms. Lauren Stemler
Hello! As a recent graduate of St. Lawrence University I am very happy to continue staying connected to the SLU community in a new way. I am one of four new Residential Coordinators and I will be working with a few upperclass residence halls. Some of my responsibilities include working with residents of these buildings, working with the Community Assistants that serve in these buildings, and assisting with the overall mission of Student Life.
Before becoming a Residential Coordinator, I was an active member of the SLU student body and then graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree. I was a Mathematics major with Psychology and Peace Studies minors but I also worked with a number of clubs and organizations and then connecting with the local communities. While a student I spent much of my time interacting with Residence Life working as a Community Assistant for my sophomore and junior years and then serving as a Building Coordinator in my senior year.
In my spare time, I like to continue to be engaged in the Canton community. I frequently volunteer with the Campus Kitchens Program, and I am hoping to become more involved in a few other community programs. Some of my hobbies also include scrapbooking, baking desserts, spending time outside, and continuing to learn. I am also currently working towards my Masters degree in Mathematics at SUNY Potsdam and should finish by May 2014.
I recently created and funded the Stemler Civic Engagement Award as a way to give back to service oriented students at St. Lawrence University. I am looking forward to giving out the first round of awards in April 2013 and I would love to talk to interested students about this opportunity. If you are passionate about service in the North Country, please apply!
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, or if you would just like to, stop by my office and talk about all of the wonderful things that you can do at SLU.
