Cindy Atkins

Director of Dining and Conference Services

Now in her 21st year at
St. Lawrence, Cindy was initially hired as the University’s Nutritionist, then became the Director in 1993. Prior to coming to
St. Lawrence University, she worked in health care as a dietitian and the food service director in two hospitals. Cindy holds a BS from Keene State college and masters degree from St. Lawrence University.

Since becoming the director she has been involved with dining service’s extensive renovations of the traditional dining facility, 3 satellite operations and the retail operation in the student center. The meal plans were also revised during this time. As the director of conference services, she led the renovations and updating of Camp Canaras.

She has been involved with various student organizations including Lettuce Turn up the Beat (a sustainability oriented organization), Habitat for Humanity, plus others. She is on the Eating Disordered Team and speaks to various groups on campus about good nutrition. Students also meet with her to discuss improving their eating plans. She is a member of both the Student Life and Ergonomics committees. Staff training has been one of her main focuses over the past few years. 98% of the full time dining service employees are Serve Safe trained in food safety, plus trained in food allergies.

Cindy currently lives in Lisbon with her son and 2 dogs.
