The Ad Hoc Singers
Based in Gunnison Memorial Chapel on the St. Lawrence University campus, The Ad Hoc Singers, formed in 2008 to offer an opportunity for vocal chamber performance, perform not only in Gunnison Memorial Chapel but also around the North Country. The group often performs in concert with Sondra Goldsmith Proctor in special multi-cultural programs.
Alexandra Jacobs is the
communications and government relations associate at SUNY Potsdam, where
she sings with the Potsdam Community Chorus. In addition to singing,
Alex serves on the board of directors for both the St. Lawrence County
Chamber of Commerce and the Nextwave Young Professionals Organization,
and is a member of the Village of Potsdam Dissolution Study Committee.
She is a member of the belly dancing troupe Veils of the Nile.
Peter Jensen-Moulton is a graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam where he majored in painting and printmaking. He has taught various subjects in public schools and other institutions for over twenty years. Peter enjoys playing the guitar and singing and at one time he had his own stringed instrument repair shop. In addition to being a member of the St. Lawrence University Community Chorus, he is delighted to be a member of the The Ad Hoc Singers.
Lansing Laraway is a graduate of
the Crane School of Music, where he completed both his Bachelor of
Science in Music Education and his Master of Arts in Music History and
Literature. He continues to serve on the board of the Crane Alumni
Association after many years as President of the Board of Trustees.
Lanse taught vocal and choral music in the Canton Central School for
eighteen years. He later taught at Gouverneur Central School, where he
served as Director of Performing Arts. Lanse is Director of Music at
Canton United Methodist Church, and served for many years as Music
Director of the Canton “Goldenaires,’ barbershop chorus. He is a
member of the district Senior Champion barbershop quartet, “Adirondack
Harmony Company.” Lanse teaches studio voice at St. Lawrence
University.
Julia Pomainville serves at St.
Lawrence University as Arts Programming Coordinator for the departments
of Art and Art History, Music, Performance and Communication Arts, the
Newell Center for Arts Technology, and the Richard F. Brush Art
Gallery. She is a graduate of State University of New York in Potsdam
with a Bachelor of Arts in Music History and Literature and a Bachelor
of Education in Music. Besides enjoying paper arts, writing and
reading, she maintains a private voice and piano studio.
Laura Ramsey is the Rooms
Reservations Administrator and Event’s Coordinator for St. Lawrence
University. After playing many musical instruments, she began studying
voice eight years ago to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a
singer. Laura has enjoyed living in the North Country since 1991.
