Celebrate Women in the Arts!

Saturday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m., in Gunnison Memorial Chapel

Featuring living women who are artists, composers, organists, pianists, and singers, the concert will include three world premieres by composers Rachel Laurin who is based in Ottawa, Canada, and In-Sil Yoo, a professor of composition at St. Lawrence University. Laurel Kuxhaus, oboist, and Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, organist, will premiere Rachel Laurin's 'Introduction and Allegro.' Also, Rachel Laurin's composition 'Chromatic Fantasietta, opus 64' will be premiered. Laura Rediehs, flautist and Professor of Philosophy at St. Lawrence University, and Genelle Bayer, Pianist, will perform 'Sonate pour Flûte et Piano' by Rachel Laurin. A women's ensemble formed from Circle Singers, Washington, DC, and Ad Hoc Singers based at St. Lawrence University will perform choral works of Eleanor Daley. In addition, organ music by Barbara Harbach, Professor at University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Pamela Decker, University of Arizona in Tucson, will be performed. Artist Melissa Schulenberg will have an art show in the Chapel in conjunction with the concert. A reception to greet the artists will be held at the conclusion of the concert.
