Cross Registration

Cross-registration for courses offered among the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley may be initiated in the registrar’s office, subject to the following stipulations:

1. The cross-registration program is open only to full-time matriculated students within the member institutions of the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley.
2. Students may register for a maximum of two courses per academic year at campuses other than their own.  Cross-registration beyond the yearly maximum of two courses is automatic when students are enrolled under a formal curricular agreement (Art Education Certification, student teaching programs) which provides for a higher level of cross-registration.
3. After students have determined which courses they wish to cross-register for, they must obtain the signed approval of their program advisor and the appropriate division chairperson to ensure that the course satisfies the student’s program and credit-hour requirements.
4. The student must then obtain the signature of the instructor of the course(s) or the department chairperson to ensure that space is available and that the student has met all prerequisites.
5. The completed form must be returned to the registrar of the home institution. In general, the institutions of the Associated Colleges schedule different starting and ending dates and vacations.
6. Students are responsible for arranging to keep up with the course work despite calendar disjunctions.  In some cases, they must arrange for food and lodging when residence halls at the home campus are closed.
7. Students are responsible for arranging travel to another campus.  St. Lawrence does not provide transportation.
8. All students taking a course on a campus other than their own must abide by all appropriate attendance regulations, honor systems, parking regulations and the like at the host institution(s).
9. All credit will be resident credit, both hours and grades achieved being accepted by the university at which the student is in residence.  A table of equivalencies between hours taken at other member institutions and units awarded toward graduation at St. Lawrence is available in the registrar’s office.  See also:  Credit Toward Graduation.
