Bank and ATM LOcations, Check Cashing and Direct Deposit

North Country Savings Bank, a full service banking facility, is located on the third floor of the Student Center.  At the Bank, students may:
·     Cash personal and third-party checks of $200 or less
·     Cash SLU payroll and travel reimbursement checks
·     Make payments on student accounts
·     Add money to Campus Wide Accounts
·     Open personal bank accounts

North Country Savings Bank will cash personal and third party checks of $200 or less for St. Lawrence University students.  Checks must be presented during normal hours of operation which are Monday through Thursday 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the academic year   (hours of operation are subject to change).  A current Campus ID Card must be presented to cash a check.

A 24-hour bank ATM is located in the vestibule of the Brewer Bookstore.  A second ATM is located on the bottom floor of the Student Center near the student mail room.  The Student Center is accessible by students 24 hours a day with their campus ID card.

If the bank returns a student’s check for insufficient funds or other reasons: The amount of the returned check and a $20 fee will be charged to the student account.  The student who presented the check will be immediately contacted for restitution.  The privilege of cashing personal checks will be revoked until restitution is made at the Student Financial Services Office. The charges will be subject to the student account payment terms.  If a student issues more than one check that is returned by the bank during the academic year, check cashing privileges are revoked.  If a returned check is a bank error, the $20 fine will be waived upon proof provided by the Bank.

Students who work for St. Lawrence University are strongly encouraged to have their pay distributed by Direct Deposit.  It is the safest, most convenient, and most flexible method of payroll distribution.

1.   Your pay goes directly from St. Lawrence University to your designated bank account.  There is no check to be lost or stolen.  Also, authorizing direct deposit does not give St. Lawrence University access to your bank accounts; it only allows us to route funds to your account.
2.   Your money is available to you on pay day.  You do not have to spend your time collecting, cashing, and depositing your payroll check during banking hours.  The deposit will happen whether you are here on campus or away on vacation.
3.   Your pay can be deposited to any bank of your choosing provided it is a member of the National Automated Clearing House.  This could be a local bank or a bank back in your home town.  You may also choose up to 3 accounts for your deposit.  These accounts can be in two different banks.
