Family Weekend - Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions that we typically get asked about Family Weekend. If you do not see the answer to your question here, do not hesitate to contact the Office of Student Activities and Leadership at 315-229-5757.

What time should I plan to arrive/depart?

Family Weekend registration and packet pickups are from noon-10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday. You may register, or pick up schedules, maps, and information during this time. You may depart campus at any time you wish. Refering to the schedule for a list of events on Sunday may help you to better determine a departure time. The last event on Sunday is the Gospel Service at 4 p.m.

How do I get access to the Fitness Center or Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course?

Access to the Fitness Center is included in Family Weekend registration and your nametag will serve as your Fitness Center Pass. To reserve a tee time at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course, please call 315-386-4600.

Where do I park on campus?

Families are invited to park in any of the available University parking lots. A map can be found here.

Am I able to bring a camper or RV to campus?

Yes, you may bring a camper or RV to Family Weekend. We ask that you please park in the Appleton Arena Lot of the J Parking Lot. Please be advised that there are no facilities or hookups. A parking map can be found here.

What is the alcohol policy on campus?

The Family Weekend Committee reminds parents and family members that St. Lawrence is governed by New York State alcohol consumption laws. The state legal drinking age is 21. The University alcohol policy applies to students, faculty, staff, and guests of the University. It prohibits consumption of alcoholic beverages at public events including, but not limited to, films, lectures, athletic contests and performances.

Besides what is listed on the Family Weekend schedule, how do I figure out what else is happening on campus throughout the weekend?

What if there is an emergency during the weekend?

We encourage you to leave an emergency contact number at our registration tables when you arrive to campus. Our emergency number on campus is Campus Security & Safety: 315-229-5555.

Is there a way for our family to access meal passes to on-campus eateries? 

You may purchase meal passes online when you pre-register or at our registration tables upon arrival. Costs per person as of Fall 2013: $6 per breakfast pass, $7 for a Saturday brunch/lunch pass, and $10 for a dinner or Sunday brunch pass. Please note that costs are subject to change for future Family Weekends.

Am I able to bring my pet on campus during Family Weekend?

If you would like to speak with a member of the faculty or administration during your visit we encourage you to make an appointment to do so. Please note that many offices offer open house hours during the Family Weekend that are noted in the schedule. Departmental contact information can be found in our online directory.
