Alyssa Pirinelli, '10

2006-07: Alyssa Pirinelli had a breakout freshman season for the Saints. She was an NCAA All-American in the shot put, placing third at the NCAA Championships with a throw of 14.07 meters. She was named Liberty League Field Performer of the Year and Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Pirinelli was the ECAC Champion, NYSCTC Champion and Liberty League Champion in the shot put. She won the NYSCTC Championship by more than a meter. Pirinelli was also the outdoor Liberty League champion in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 12.79 meters. She also placed second in the discus with a throw of 33.60 meters and third in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.66 meters.

At North Tonowanda High School

Pirinelli was a member of the track and field and cross country teams. She was named most vaulable player of the indoor track team her junior and senior years and MVP of the outdoor team during her junior year. Pirinelli was an indoor state qualifier in 2004-05. She was the overall MVP of the outdoor team in 2006 and won the state title for the shot put in 2006.

 

In her first meet at St. Lawrence on Dec. 9, Pirinelli broke the school record for the shot put by almost two meters and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship with a throw of 13.7m.

 

Pirinell is a chemistry major.
