SAINTS 0-4 AGAINST TOUGH COMPETITION IN MAINE

Jan. 28: St. Lawrence University’s women’s squash team went up against some tough opponents in a four-match series in Maine and lost all four matches, three of them to higher ranked teams.

 

The Saints, 21 st in the current national rankings, opened weekend action with a 9-0 loss to 12 th ranked Bates with all nine matches decided by 3-0 scores. They then lost to ninth-ranked Brown 9-0 and dropped a tough 5-4 decision to 24 th-ranked George Washington on Saturday. The final match of the trip was an 8-1 loss to 13 th-ranked Bowdoin.

 

While Brown also swept the Saints by 3-0 scores through the lineup, Meg North and Jacqueline Barrett were very competitive with their Brown counterparts at one and two.

 

Laura Dobbs won 3-1 at four, Anna Dunlap won 3-0 at seven, Blake Carbone 3-0 at eight and Jessie Ziegler won 3-0 at nine against George Washington with Molly Terrien also winning 3-0 in the exhibition at the ten spot.

Ziegler had an outstanding match, beating Katie Boyce 9-5, 9-7, 9-5 for the lone Saint point against Bowdoin and Terrien again had a 3-0 win at ten.

 

The Saints, now 5-10 on the season, will play at Cornell on Saturday.
