SAINTS SPLIT MATCHES AT WESLEYAN Dec. 1: St. Lawrence University’s women’s squash team went 2-2 in a quartet of matches at the Wesleyan Round Robin Friday and Saturday, beating Smith and Wesleyan with losses to Wellesley and Bates.
Senior Anna Dunlap, who went 3-1 in the four matches, was named Liberty League co-Player of the Week for her play.
The Saints opened the weekend with a 6-3 win over Wesleyan, winning matches four through nine.
Meg North, Jacqueline Barrett and Laura Dobbs lost in competitive matches at one through three with Barrett going to four games against Gwynne Hunter. The Saints ran the table the rest of the way. Alyssa Smith took a highly competitive match from Margeaux Wiseman at four, winning 9-6, 10-8 and 9-7 and Katie Demakos won a key match at eight with a 3-1 victory over Lauren Russman, 9-3, 9-4, 4-9, 9-5.
A.P. Daniels won 3-0 at five, Jessie Ziegler was a 3-0 winner at six Dunlap won 3-0 at seven and Blake Carbone won 3-0 at nine. Molly Terrien also picked up a win in match ten, 3-0.
Wellesley took matches two through six in a 6-3 win over the Saints in their second match of the round robin. North won 3-2 against Sarah O’Dell of Wellesley as the two players swapped games until North won the decisive game five, 9-4. O’Dell took game one 10-8, North came back with a 9-5 win in game two and after O’Dell won 9-0 in game three, North won game four 9-1. Dunlap took a 3-0 decision at seven with 9-6, 9-6 and 10-8 wins and Carbone went to 2-0 for the weekend with a 3-0 win over Laura Stevens at nine. Terrien also won her second straight match with a 3-0 win at ten.
A strong Bates team swept the Saints 9-0 although Terrien was again a winner for the Saints with a 3-2 win at ten in an exhibition match.
The Saints closed out the weekend with a 9-0 win over Smith.
North won her second 3-2 match of the weekend, beating Kate Whitesell 9-6, 7-9, 3-0, 9-6, 10-9 and Smith won 3-1 at four with a 9-2, 2-9, 9-4, 9-0 win over Alice Reznickova. The rest of the Saint lineup won 3-0 matches.
