BOMBERS TOP SAINTS 4-0 IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION Oct. 13: The Ithaca College Bombers extended their winning streak to five as they shut out the St. Lawrence University women’s soccer team 4-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, NY.
The Bombers, who have not lost on their home turf yet this season, dominated throughout the game and were able to limit the Saints offense considerably.
The Bombers got the scoring off early in the 11 th minute with what ended up being the game-winning goal by Amy Scheffer, as she drilled a hard shot from outside the box past Saints keeper Hayleigh Hochberg, giving Ithaca a 1-0 lead.
The Saints were able to contain the Bombers to the lone goal in the first half, but Ithaca came into the second half more than ready to get the ball into the net, and scored their last three goals within the first fifteen minutes of the period. Bomber Winnie Adrian led the Ithaca’s offense with five points on two goals and an assist. Her goals were the first two of the second half, netting them in the 50 th and 59 th minute of the game. Ithaca ’s junior forward Chelsey Feldman added the fourth goal, finishing a cross from Adrien.
Hochberg, who hails from Croton, NY, had eight saves for the Saints, while Bomber keeper Aimee Meacham had one for Ithaca.
The Saints, who are now 7-6-0 overall, will return to Liberty League action next Saturday in Clinton, NY as they go on to face the Hamilton Continentals. The game is set to begin at 2:00pm. |
