SISCHO, BOGOSIAN EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS; SEVEN SAINTS NAMED TO

ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Nov. 1: The Liberty League recognized ten Saints this season for their efforts both on and off the field. Junior midfielder and captain Lauren Sischo was awarded Liberty League First Team All-Conference Honors, while rookie midfielder Lizzie Bogosian was named to the second team for their performances in the 2007 campaign. Sophomore back Stanzi McGlynn received honorable mention for her efforts this season, while seven players were named to the conference’s All-Academic Team, including Sischo and McGlynn.

Sischo led the Saints in points this season with 12 points, and also lead in goals, tallying 6. The Rodman, NY native is tied for the top spot in number of game winners with a total of 2 for 2007. Sischo, who was named captain as a junior, is also a member of the Liberty League All-Academic Team.

Bogosian has had an outstanding first year as a Saint, tallying four assists for the 2007 season. Two of her assists led to eventual tying goals in the games against SUNY Potsdam and Oswego State, while another assist came on the game-winning goal of the first game of the season against Utica. Her speed down the flank and her ability to find scoring opportunities for her teammates has made her an invaluable asset to the Saints offense.

McGlynn has been a powerhouse for the Saints in the backfield, tallying the most assists for St. Lawrence in 2007 with six. The back, who hails from Montoursville, Pa., has been the person the Saints turn to on corners and has set up a number of opportunities that have converted into goals for the Saints, including all three goals in the Saints 3-0 win over Clarkson. One of her assists resulted in a game-winning goal in the Saints contest with RPI.

In addition to Sischo and McGlynn, the Saints had five players who were named to the All-Academic team, including senior captain Julie Giller, junior Zoe Bludevich, and sophomores Megan Dumka, Megan Howard, and Becca Townsend. Student-Athletes with a full year in residence at their institution who carry a 3.2 cumulative grade point average into a season of competition are eligible for Liberty League All-Academic Teams.
