The Program ... Saints Lacrosse
St. Lawrence University's women's lacrosse program has been one of the most consistent at reaching post-season play since its inception as a varsity sport in the mid-1970s, making 25 post-season appearances in the last 26 years.
The Saints have been perennial entries in the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, and have played in regional and national tournaments as well, finishing as the 1990 NCAA Division III runner-up as part of a string of three straight NCAA appearances to begin the 1990s.
In 2005, the Saints advanced all the way to the Liberty League Championship, where they fell to nationallly-ranked Union. Carolyn Cherry '05 earned NYSWCAA, ECAC and All-America honors after leading the team with her fourth consecutive 50+ point season. Kathryn Durki '07 also earned NYSWCAA All-State honors. The Saints finished the season 9-5 with wins over nationally-ranked Hamilton and William Smith.
The Saints went 8-6 overall and 5-4 in league play in 2004. They closed the 2004 season on a six-game win streak, just missing the league tournament. The 2003 season saw the Saints make their second straight ECAC Tournament and finish with a record of 11-6. Second team Regional All-America honors were denoted to Anne Hawley '03, and upcoming junior Carolyn Cherry, who led the Saints with 70 points. Both Hawley and Cherry also joined sophomore Leah Yandow with All-UCAA-Conference designations.
The Saints are in their eighth year in a new playing and practice venue, North Country Field, an Astroturf field which affords the team a chance to practice outside early in the pre-season when weather permits and provides a consistent playing surface for games. The Saints also have early
