At Fayetteville-Manlius
Short was a two-sport athlete, competing in soccer and lacrosse. In 2006, she helped the Hornets earn the Section III Class AA title and came in second in the New York State Championships. She won the Gaffey Memorial for dedication and excellence in lacrosse, and was an All-League honorable mention in 2007. Short was an honor roll student.
