At Winnisquam
Martel was a three-sport athlete, competing on both the basketball and field hockey teams as well as track and field, and was captain of all three squads. In track and field, she was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Most Outstanding Female Athlete as a junior, and Most Valuable Athlete her senior year. She was the recipient of the Excellence in Sportsmanship Award from the New Hampshire Athletic Director's Association. She was also the recipient of the Athletic Director's Association Scholar Athlete Award, the U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Award, the Presidential Academic Excellence Award and was named a N.H. State Scholar for her efforts in the classroom. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the High Honor Roll and graduated 3rd in her class.
