WOLFF POSTS CAREER-HIGH 34 POINTS AS SAINTS DROP BATES, 65-42

Nov. 30: Senior captain Jamie Wolff accounted for more than half the points St. Lawrence posted in the game against Bates at the Norwich Tournament Friday night, scoring 34 for the Saints women’s basketball team on their way to a decisive 65-42 win over the Bobcats, leading them into the tournament’s championship game on Saturday at Andrews Hall in Northfield, VT.

The Buffalo, NY guard scored 19 of her points in the first ten minutes of the contest, 15 of those coming from three-pointers, giving the Saints a 29-7 lead with 10:36 remaining in the first half. She had a layup in the final seconds of the half, but started out the second with another three less than two minutes into the period. Wolff would continue to dominate for the Saints with her success in the paint and with free throws, helping the Saints increase their lead by as many as 25 points with 9:28 on the clock.

Overall, she was 11-for-21 from the field and 6-for-13 from beyond the arc, and shot 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

The Saints led throughout the entire game, having a nine-point lead with the game only 1:37 old. St. Lawrence controlled the ball and played a strong defensive game that was tough to beat, as Bates was never able to bring the score closer than six. In the first period, the Bobcats nearly cut the Saints’ 24-point lead in half as they closed the period down 40-27.

Despite the efforts of Bates, the Saints continued to inflate their lead and were not about to let the Bobcats shrink it down again, as the game ended with a Saints 65-42 win.

Junior Jenna Krzemien led the team in total rebounds with nine, while classmate Lauren Sischo tallied eight points, seven assists, five rebounds and one steal. Senior captain Kim Sikule had a game-high five steals and had one block.

The Saints, now 5-1 overall, will play in the tournament’s championship game on Saturday against the Apprentice School at 3:00pm.
