FOUR SCORE IN DOUBLE DIGITS AS SAINTS DOMINATE ALBANY COLLEGE OF PHARMACY, 85-30

Dec. 2: The St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team recorded their fourth win in a week and their fifth consecutive win of the season as the Saints defeated the Albany College of Pharmacy 85-30 in Burkman Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

 

The Saints are now 7-1 in the season, while the Panthers fall to 5-3 in their 2007-2008 campaign.

 

The first points of the game belonged to ACP, but once St. Lawrence got on the board, they never relinquished the lead to the Panthers. The Saints kept their opponents scoreless for 8:45 to make an 18-0 run in the middle of the first half to lead the game 27-5 with 7:05 left on the clock. The Saints would only allow Albany six more points in the first to take a significant 45-11 lead into the half.

 

In the first period, St. Lawrence was led by junior Lauren Sischo, who was 3-for-4 front behind the arc and perfect from the line to lead the Saints with 11 points, while Junior Katie Palmer posted eight points and senior captain Jamie Wolff tallied seven in the first 20 minutes of play. The Saints shot 44.7% from the field, 35.7% from the three-point range and was 6-for-7 in free throws, and were able to contain Albany to a 15.4% field goal percentage. The Saints forced the Panthers into 13 turnovers, compared to the Saints’ three.

 

The Saints drastically increased their lead in the last 20 minutes of the contest, allowing Albany only 19 more points in the game, as St. Lawrence put up another 40-point half to end the game with a score of 85-30. The Scarlet and Brown posted a 50% average from the court, including a 36.8% overall average in three-pointers, and tallied 11 steals compared to the Panthers’ four.

 

Palmer put up another six points in the second to give her 14 total points for the day, in addition to her seven rebounds and two assists. Wolff added five points to give her 12, while also accumulating four assists and two steals. Sischo made a shot from the paint to give her a total of 13 for the day, while also recording two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

Also scoring in the double digits was junior Jenna Krzemien, who had 11 points and led the game with nine total rebounds. The Springville, NY native also had an assist and a steal. Sophomore Brittany Parham led the Saints and the game with three steals.

 

The Saints will travel to Ithaca, NY later this week to face the Ithaca Bombers on Friday, December 7 th in their last game of 2007. The tip-off it set for 7:00pm.
