Chris Wells returned to his alma mater as assistant hockey coach in the 1999-2000 season after a stint behind the bench at Western Michigan University in the CCHA. He was named Associate Head Coach of the men's hockey team in January of 2003, and will take the reigns of the women's hockey program in the 2008-09 season.

A 1992 graduate of St. Lawrence and one of the heroes of that ECAC championship team, he earned the Brian P. Doyle Memorial Trophy as a senior. He scored the overtime game winner in a come-from-behind semifinal win over RPI in the 1992 ECAC tourney.

Wells began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Colgate University following a European professional career. He has also served the University as director of St. Lawrence summer sport programs and a co-director of the Saint Summer Hockey School.

Chris and his wife, Kate, are the parents of two daughters, Laura and Sarah and a son, Bobby.

 

 

 

ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH

 

Ted Wisner

Ted Wisner enters his fourth season on the Saints coaching staff in 2007 and it is his first as the Associate Head Coach. He serves as the recruiting coordinator as well as assisting the staff in all other aspects of the program.

 

Wisner, a native of Canton, served as the head coach at Colgate, leading the Raiders’ progression from Division III status to Division I status from June 1999 through June 2002. While head coach of the Raiders, Wisner posted a 48-23-9 record and was named the American Hockey Coaches Association College Division National Coach of the Year in 2000. That same year, he was also named the ECACHL Division III Coach of the Year. He spent the 2003-2004 season as an assistant coach at Clarkson in the Golden Knights first season as a Division I program.

A 1995 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Wisner received a Masters in Education from St.Lawrence in 2001 where he began his coaching career. He served as a graduate assistant for the Saints for two seasons, then joined the the coaching staff at Cornell for the 1998-99 season.

Wisner now resides in Canton, NY and has a daughter, Gina Catherine (4).

 

 

ASSISTANT COACH

 

Mare MacDougall

MacDougall joins the Saints staff in 2007-08 after serving as an assistant coach for four seasons at Wayne State University. The Lumsden, Saskatchewan native graduated Cum Laude from Mercyhurst College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

 

MacDougall helped the Lakers capture back-to-back league championships in her two seasons at Mercyhurst, and earned CHA All-Academic honors her senior year. She was very involved in the Erie community, as she worked as a volunteer at an after-school program for at-risk children.

 

MacDougall also participated in the Olympic Oval High Performance Program in Calgary before joining the Lakers in 2001. While at the Oval, MacDougall had the opportunity to play and train along side some of the best female hockey players in Canada, and was a member of the 2001 National Championship Oval X-Treme Team. She also attended the University of Calgary, where she was the recipient of the Jimmie Condon Scholarship for academic and athletic excellence. MacDougall, setting a trend which she continued through her time at Wayne State, was involved in the community as a volunteer art education program instructor at the Glenbow Museum.

 

As an assistant at Wayne State, MacDougall served the team in a variety of ways. Her responsibilities included game and practice preparation, travel planning and recruiting. She also worked very closely with the Warriors’ defensive unit.
