Nov. 1: Sophomore forward Sabrina Harbec garnered another honor Tuesday evening for her performance at No.8 Mercyhurst last weekend. She was named the USCHO.com Offensive Player of the Week.
An All-ECACHL Rookie selection a year ago, Harbec is showing no signs of a sophomore slump. The St. Hubert, Que. native carried No. 1 St. Lawrence to a two-game sweep of No. 8 Lakers with three goals and an assist for a four point weekend. Harbec scored the Saints' first goal and assisted on the second in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win, and she scored the eventual game-winner and a critical insurance goal in Sunday's 4-1 win. Harbec is now the Saints' leading scorer.

Game time set for 7:30 p.m. This will be the third game of the Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour. The Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour features the U.S. Women's National Team on an 11-game schedule in preparation for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
The No.1 Saints return to action this weekend as they play their first games of the season in Appleton Arena. St. Lawrence will face No.9 Providence at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Northeastern at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can listen to all the action on 92.7 FM The Border.
HARBEC NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Oct. 31: The ECACHL announced its weekly honors Monday afternoon. Among them are sophomore forward Sabrina Harbec. She was named the league's Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Harbec and her teammates swept No. 8 Mercyhurst in two road games over the weekend. Harbec led the No. 1 Saints with three goals and one assist in the victories. She started things off with a goal and an assists in game one, including a power-play marker. On Sunday, the sophomore forward scored the game winner and then later scored on a break-away to put SLU up 3-1. With the four points on the weekend, she has now scored at least one point in each of the Saints' last four games.
For the season, Harbec leads the Saints with eight points, which is also second-best in the league. Harbec is the daughter of Marie-Paule and Bernard Harbec. She played hockey with the Montreal Axion (NWHL) prior to enrolling at St. Lawrence.

NO.1 SAINTS JUMP ON NO.8 LAKERS EARLY, WIN 4-1
Erie, Pa.:A fast start by the No.1 St. Lawrence Saints (5-0-0, 0-0-0) proved to be too much for the No.8 Lakers of Mercyhurst ( 3-5-0, 0-0-0) Sunday. Four goals in the first 24 minutes of play combined with strong goalkeeping from sophomore Meaghan Guckian were enough for St. Lawrence to complete the weekend sweep of the Lakers. At 5-0-0, the Saints are off to their best start since making the move to Division I in 1997.
Sunday's first period proved to be quite the opposite from Saturday's, as the two teams combined to score three goals during the opening session. St. Lawrence struck twice before the Lakers could get on the board. St. Lawrence opened the scoring very early, as senior Emilie Berlinguette beat Mercyhurst net minder Laura Hosier just 38 seconds into the period. Later in the session a penalty by each team led to four-on-four skating, resulting in sophomore Sabrina Harbec’s third goal of the season. Late in the period the Lakers were able to skate one-man up, as senior Tracy Muzerall was whistled for tripping at 17:48. Mercyhurst was able to muster several shots on goal, but failed to get it past Guckian.
The sails deflated early in the second period for the Lakers, as the Saints put up a pair of goals on two breakaways within a minute of each other. Harbec scored her second of the day on a breakaway following a Mercyhurst defensive collapse. Just 40 seconds later freshman forward Carson Duggan scored for the Saints following a Laker turnover near mid-ice.
Mercyhurst had their chances toward the second half of the period with two power-plays in the last five minutes, but were unable to capitalize. Judging from the stat sheet, Mercyhurst should have had the upper hand, as the Saints were whistled four times during the period and not a single Laker was sent to the box in that time.
The third period resulted in much of the same for the Lakers, as Mercyhurst was unable to get the puck in net. Mercyhurst out-shot the Saints by a total of 32-24. The Saints penalty kill was strong on Sunday, killing seven of eight penalties.
In her first game of the season, Guckian made 31 saves for the win. For the Lakers, Hosier made just eight saves in 24 minutes before being replaced. Courtney Drennen checked into the game and made 12 saves in nearly 36 minutes of relief.
The Saints return home next weekend as they finally open play at Appleton Arena. St. Lawrence hosts the Providence Friars on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and the Northeastern Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
CONNORS POWER-PLAY GOAL LIFTS NO.1 SAINTS OVER NO.8 LAKERS IN OVERTIME
Erie, Pa.: Junior Crystal Connors scored on the power-play just 55 seconds into the extra period, to lift the No.1 Saints (4-0-0, 0-0-0) to a 3-2 win over the No.8 Mercyhurst Lakers (3-4-0, 0-0-0) Saturday afternoon. St. Lawrence is off to its best start the 1999-2000 season, when the Saints opened at 4-0-0.
Mercyhurst controlled the entire third period, tallying its second goal and limiting St. Lawrence to only eight shots. Senior Samantha Shirley tied the game on an even-strength goal on a rebound from junior Ashley Pendleton. The goal, Shirley's fourth, came at the 12:29 mark. The session ended with a penalty on freshman Courtney Unruh for obstruction-interference, with just 26 seconds remaining.
The first period of play was one of missed opportunity for both teams, as the each team had opportunities to score on five-on-three advantages. St. Lawrence was whistled for three penalties early in the period, and the favor would be returned one-up for Mercyhurst when it was whistled for four straight later in the frame. Mercyhurst held a one-man advantage for over four minutes during the first period, including almost two and a half minutes of two-man advantage. The period ended with no goals, each goalie stopping ten shots.
Where the opening period was scoreless, the floodgates began to open in the middle session. St. Lawrence got on the board early with a marker at 5:31 of the second period. Looking to capitalize on a Laker penalty, the Saints cashed in with only five seconds left on the power-play. Sophomore Sabrina Harbec beat Hosier in the upper left hand corner to break the scoreless tie. Harbec's goal, her second, was assisted by Alison Domenico and Carson Duggan.
Mercyhurst surrendered an even-strength goal at 17:03 of the same period when Duggan beat Hosier on a 2-on-2 breakaway. Duggan had a forward on her left, but chose to shoot herself from the right side and beat Hosier in the top of the net. The Lakers were able to pull back to within one when Pendleton took a rebound and snuck it past St. Lawrence senior goalie Jessica Moffat on a five-on-three advantage for the Lakers. Junior Julia Colizza took the initial shot on the play and was followed by with a shot by freshman Valarie Chouinard before her rebound came down right in front of Pendleton.
Moffat finished with a season-high 39 saves for her fourth win of the season. Hosier posted 29 saves in the loss for Mercyhurst. The Saints were 2-of-7 on the power-play, while the Lakers were 1-of-8. The two teams are back in action tomorrow, October 30, with the puck dropping at 1 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
