2005-2006 Archives HARBEC NAMED PLAYER OF THE GAME VERSUS TEAM USA
Nov. 1: Sophomore Sabrina Harbec gave the ECACHL All-Star team an early 1-0 lead against Team USA Tuesday night in New Haven, Conn. For her effots, she was named the Natioanl Car Rental Player of the Game for the ECACHL All-Star team. The game was played as a part of the Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour. Tonight’s game was played at Ingalls Rink on the campus of Yale University.
The ECACHL All-Stars struck early when Saints senior forward Emilie Berlinguette drew a penalty on Team USA. At 3:10 into the first period, Brown’s Myria Heinhuis rifled a shot from the point. Harbec, from the slot, redirected Heinhuis’ shot through the legs of Team USA goalie Pam Dreyer for the lead. Team USA answered on a four-on-three midway through the period to knot the score. Team USA went on to win the game 6-2. Joining Harbec and Berlinguette, was sophomore defenseman Annie Guay. Guay registered several shots and was solid on the blue line for the ECACHL All-Star team.
The No.1 Saints return to action this weekend as they play their first games of the season in Appleton Arena. St. Lawrence will face No.9 Providence at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Northeastern at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can listen to all the action on 92.7 FM The Border.
TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE FOR ECACHL ALL-STAR GAME
Oct. 19: Tickets are now available for the Nov. 1 game between the U.S. Women’s National Team and the ECACHL All-Star team. Fans can contact the Yale Ticket Office at 203-432-1400 for tickets or use the ticket form. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Ingalls Rink on the campus of Yale University .
The ECACHL All-Star roster includes Saints senior Emilie Berlinguette, and sophomores Annie Guay and Sabrina Harbec. Harbec is currently tied for first on the team with four points (1g, 3a) in just three games. Berlinguette is tied for third on the team with three points (0g, 3a). Guay leads the Saints defensemen with two points (1g, 1a).
This will be the third game of the Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour. The Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour features the U.S. Women's National Team on an 11-game schedule in preparation for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. The U.S. Women's National Team will visit 10 cities during the Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour, which opened on Sept. 30 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. The Olympic Winter Games will take place in Torino, Italy, from February 10-26, 2006.
THREE SAINTS NAMED TO ECACHL ALL-STAR TEAM
Sept. 29: The ECAC Hockey League has named its all-star team which will face the 2005-06 U.S. Women’s National Team on Tuesday, November 1. The game will take place at Ingalls Rink in New Haven , Conn. At 7:30 p.m. The game is part of the Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour, presented by The Hilton Family of Hotels. Of the 21 ECACHL players named to the roster are three St. Lawrence University Women’s Hockey players, senior Emilie Berlinguette and sophomores Annie Guay and Sabrina Harbec.
Berlinguette was the Saints second-leading scorer last season, with 22 goals and 25 assists for 47 points. She also had a school-record 19 game point streak. In her rookie season, Guay emerged as one of the league’s top defenders, scoring seven points from the blue line. Harbec also had an impressive rookie season, finishing fifth on the team with 16 goals and 20 assists. Guay and Harbec both earned 2005 ECACHL All-Rookie Team honors. Berlinguette and Harbec were named to the 2005-06 ECACHL Preseason All-League Team.
The All-Star team will be coached by Harvard head coach Katey Stone, with Claudia Asano and Michelle McAteeer assisting. The team was selected by the all-star coaching staff with input from all 11 league coaches. In addition to St. Lawrence, Brown, Colgate, Harvard, Princeton and Yale each have three players named to the roster. Cornell, Dartmouth and Quinnipiac have one player each.
