BERRETTA LEADS SAINTS TO 2 ND AT MIDDLEBURY Sept. 16: Kristin Berretta shot rounds of 85 and 89 for a 174 total and led St. Lawrence University’s women’s golf team to a second place finish in the Middlebury College Women’s Invitational on the Ralph Myre Golf Course in Middlebury on Sunday.
Berretta’s first-round score of 85 was the third best on day one and she finished tied for fourth overall in the tournament.
Kim Sikule shot back to back rounds of 88 for a 176 total and was tenth overall while Alair Muzzatti shot rounds of 87 and 90 for a 177 total and was 11 th. Casey Lawton shot back-to-back rounds of 94 for a 188 total and was 14 th and Cait Cunningham shot 95 and 100 and finished 17 th in the field.
The Saints will play in the Williams Invitational this weekend.
BERRETTA, MUZZATTI LEAD SAINTS TO 2ND AT INVITATIONAL Sept. 8: Sophomore Kristen Berretta shot a collegiate career best round of three-over 75 on Sunday, finishing second as and individual and joined with first year player Alair Muzzatti to help the Saint women’s golf team to a second place finish in the St. Lawrence University Invitational at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course.
Berretta finished second to medalist Maggie Trainor of Humber College, who shot rounds of 77 and 78 for a 155 total. Berretta shot 82 on Saturday and came back with an outstanding round on Sunday which included a par-eagle-birdie run on holes seven, eight and nine, three consecutive threes.
Muzzatti, who was the low Saint player on Saturday with an 80 in her first collegiate competitive round, came back with a 78 on Sunday, shooting even par 36 on the front nine. She tied for third overall with a 158 total.
Humber won the team championship with a 651 total, shooting 329 and 322 with four out of five scores counting. The Saints were second with rounds of 346 and 339 for a 685 total, four strokes better than Williams College in the ten-team field.
Casey Lawton shot rounds of 88 and 94 for a 182 total and Cait Cunningham shot 96 and 100 for a 196 total. Kim Sikule, who had to miss Saturday’s round while taking exams, shot 92 on Sunday to help the Saints edge Williams for second.
Hannah Littlefield and Katie Gleason, playing for the Saint Brown team tied for 47 th with two round totals of 207.
