MUZZATTI, SAINTS TAKE CORTLAND TITLES
Oct. 1: First year Alair Muzzatti won the individual championship in a playoff and the Saint women’s golf team took the team title by four strokes over Elmira at the Dr. Larry Martin Memorial Tournament at Cortland Country Club on Monday.
Muzzatti earned her first collegiate win after shooting an 83, tying with Tory MacNeil of Elmira. Both golfers tied the first playoff hole, but Muzzatti sunk a long putt on the second playoff hole, the 18 th, for the win and medalist honors.
Kristin Berretta was one shot off the lead and finished third with an 84. Kim Sikule shot 87 and tied for fifth, Caitlin Cunningham shot 93 and tied for 12 th to complete the Saint team scoring. Casey Lawton shot 97 and was 17 th overall.
The Saints had a best-four score total of 347 with Elmira second at 351, Nazareth third at 364, host Cortland fourth at 390 and William Smith fifth at 403.
The Saints will complete the fall portion of their schedule at Williams Saturday and Sunday.
