PAVLUS AND LUDOVICI LAND IN TOP-10 AT 2007 ATLANTIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Nov. 10: First year student Wendy Pavlus and graduate student Elizabeth Ludovici each earned top-10 finishes at the 2007 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. The duo helped the Saints finish in 8th place out of 37 scoring teams.
Pavlus, who has been outstanding in her first collegiate season, finished in 7th place overall out of 255 runners with a time of 22:15.1. The Tupper Lake, NY native, who was the top-freshman in the race, was joined by Ludovici in 9th place with a time of 22:18.3. Sophomore Johannah Ludington also had a nice showing, landing in 24th position overall with a time of 22:48.7.
Ludington’s fellow classmate Hillary St. John was next for St. Lawrence with a time of 25:24.0 (131st place), a mere 1.1 seconds ahead of rookie teammate Katrina Loignon (132nd, 25:25.1). Junior Lyndsay Bisaccio also competed for the Scarlet and Brown, finished the 6000 meter course in a time of 25:32.5 (138th place).
The event was won by Geneseo State and Plattsburgh State, as both schools finished with a total of 41 points. Geneseo’s Liz Montgomery was the individual champion with a time of 21:06.0, almost 17 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor Toni Wiszowaty of Plattsburgh (21:22.5).
The women’s cross country team will await word on possible individual bids for the 2007 NCAA Championships hosted by St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN next Saturday, November 17th.
