PAVLUS AND LUDOVICI IMPRESSIVE AT 2007 NCAA

CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nov. 17: First year student Wendy Pavlus and graduate student Elizabeth Ludovici represented St. Lawrence University well at the 2007 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon in Northfield, MN , finishing in 50th and 67th place, respectively, out of 280 competitors.

 

Pavlus put the finishing touches on a remarkable rookie season, running the 6 km course in a time of 22:30 . Ludovici followed 12 seconds later, posting a time of 22:42 in her final collegiate race.

 

Willamette 's Sarah Zerzan repeated at individual champion and Amherst College won the Division III National Championship at the event, which was hosted by St. Olaf College . Zerzan won the event by 23 seconds, topping her 20-second win margin from 2006.

Plattsburgh State finished in second place in the team standings behind sixth and seventh place runs from Allison Busby and Toni Wiszowaty.

 

The 2007 National Championships completes the women’s cross country season, with the Liberty League announcing its 2007 award winners this week.

 

 

PAVLUS, LUDOVICI TO COMPETE AT

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nov. 12: Graduate student Liz Ludovici and first year Wendy Pavlus will be representing St. Lawrence women’s cross country at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship meet this coming weekend, as both received individual bids to compete in the meet at St. Olaf College after finishing in the top ten at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships over the weekend.

 

Pavlus, who placed seventh out of 255 competitors at Regionals and was the top freshman finisher in the race, and Ludovici, who won the Liberty League title for the second time this season and finished ninth at Regionals, led the women’s cross country team to its sixth consecutive Liberty League conference title this season. It’s the second time Ludovici has qualified for the NCAA Championships.

 

For the eighth time this season, Pavlus was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for her performance at the meet. She was also named Performer of the Week by the conference for the first time in her career.

 

The runners will travel to Northfield, MN on Thursday to compete in the race, which will be held on Saturday, November 17th. The women’s race will precede the men’s race is set to begin at 11:00am.
