LUDOVICI FINISHES 2nd OVERALL TO PACE SAINTS AT CONNECTICUT COLLEGE Sept. 22: The St. Lawrence University women’s cross country team landed three runners in the top-6 spots at the 2007 Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. Graduate student Elizabeth Ludovici led the Saints with a 2nd place overall finish behind a time of 22:31, while rookie Wendy Pavlus was in 5th place with a time of 23:00.
Saturday’s race was the second consecutive event that Ludovici and Pavlus were the top-two Saint runners, though sophomore Johannah Ludington finished a mere one second behind Pavlus and earned 6th position (23:01).
Sophomore Chelsea Nuffer raced the 6k course in 23:55 to earn 16th place overall. Fellow classmate Hillary St. John completed St. Lawrence’s scoring behind a time of 25:59, good enough for 74th overall.
Also competing for the Saints on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational were junior Lyndsay Bisaccio (92nd, 26:34) and first year students Katrina Loignon (97th 26:41), Chelsea McKenzie (107th, 27:20) and Catherine LePage (123rd, 28:00)
The race was won by Connecticut College with 73 points, only two points ahead of Stonehill (75). Colby finished in third place with 81 points, while St. Lawrence was fourth overall with 85. A total of 14 teams competed in the invitational.
The Saints will be in action again next weekend on Saturday, September 29th in the 2007 Liberty League Championships hosted by Clarkson University. The conference meet is set to begin at 1:00pm.
