2007-2008: In his rookie season, McPhillips was a member of the fifth place 200 Freestyle Relay team as well as the eighth place 400 Freestyle Relay team at the Liberty League Championships in December. In the 200 Medley Relay at the same meet, The Glens Falls, NY native helped his relay to a 14th place finish overall. At the UNYSCSA Championships in February, McPhillips achieved two season best times in the 100 and 200 yard freestyles.

At Glens Falls
McPhillips was a co-captain of the swim team and played on the varsity tennis team. He was named a Foothills Council 1st Team All Star for swimming and was a recipient of the Presidential Award.
