2007-2008: Kirkpatrick continued to be one of the leaders in the water for St. Lawrence, as he accumulated several top three finishes in one of his several individual races in the dual meets throughout the season. At the 2007 Liberty League Championships, Kirkpatrick helped the Saints place 10th overall in the 400 Medley Relay, while his most impressive meet came at the end of the season at the UNYSCSA Championships, where he led the Scarlet and Brown. In the 400 IM, he earned a spot in the finals, where he placed eighth overall. In the 200 IM, the Ridgefield, CT native placed 16th overall with a career best time. He also scored points in the 200 fly, where he placed 23rd overall. He was also a member of both the 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams, with each placing 11th.

2006-2007: Matt Kirkpatrick had an outstanding rookie season for the Saints and was recognized as Liberty League Rookie of the Week three times during his freshman season. He won nine individual events during the dual meet season and was a triple winner in the meet against Nazareth with victories in the 1000 free, 100 fly and 200 IM. He had top ten finishes in both the 200 fly and 400 IM at the Liberty League Championships, was seventh in the 400 IM in the UNYSCSA Championship and also scored in the 200 fly and 500 free at states. He was a member of two top ten relays in the UNYSCSA meet.
