2007-2008: Grimes had an outstanding season by anyone's standards, as she not only led a strong and talented first-year class for the Saints, but she also led the team in total points at the final meet of the season, the NYSWCAA Championships in February. The Hamden, CT native is the current St. Lawrence University record holder in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and was also a member of two school record-breaking relay teams at the NYSWCAA's. Grimes' performances throughout the dual meet season helped her earn Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors four times in 2007-2008. At the Liberty League Championships, Grimes was the conference champion in the 100 breaststroke, the only individual win for the Saints, while she also placed third in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 IM. The 200 Medley Relay team won the meet, while Grimes was also a member of the third place 400 Medley Relay team. In February, Grimes accounted for nearly a fifth of the Scarlet and Brown's 520, as she tallied 93 alone, including relay finishes. Her meet was highlighted by her second place finish in the 200 breaststroke, where her time put her amongst the best in Division III it was an NCAA "B" cut, making her the first swimmer since the 2003-2004 season to reach that standard. Her other finishes included a record-breaking fifth place finish in the 100 breast, and a 17th place finish in the 200 IM. She was a member of the fifth place 200 Medley Relay team as well as the sixth place 400 Medley Relay squad.
