![]() ROCHESTER TAKES TWO FROM SAINTS Nov. 10: The University of Rochester defeated the Saint men’s and women’s swim teams in dual meets at Rochester Friday night as the Yellowjacket women prevailed 146-87 and the men were 153-86 winners.
The Saint men lost their first of the season and take a 3-1 record into a dual meet at RIT on Saturday while the Saint women are 2-2 heading into the RIT meet.
Sophomore Jason Johnson swept the diving events for the Saint men, winning the one meter competition with 235.58 points and the three meter competition with 272.78 points. Robo Ibler was the only other men’s winner for the Saints, taking the 50 free in 22.92.
Kim Watcke had a strong meet for the Saint women, who ceded 32 points in diving due to the lack of a woman diver, leading off the winning 400 medley relay team, winning the 100 back and finishing second in the 50 free.
She was joined on the medley relay by Alida Gerritsen, Devan Meserve and Ashley Bogosian and they finished in 4:19.70, the second fastest time this season, to edge Rochester which turned in a time of 4:20.7.
Watke won the 100 back in 1:04.10 with Bogosian finishing third and was second in 26.78 seconds in the 50 free with Meaghan Vaughn finishing third.
The Saints also won the 400 free relay with their best time of the year as Katie Waters, Abby Lynch, Vaughn and Kate Farrell combined for a 3:56.05 clocking.
Other top finishes for the Saints included a 2 nd in 2:04.55 in the 200 free by Bogosian, a third in the 400 IM by Gerritsen, a second in the 100 free by Lynch and Gerritsen was second in 1:06.35 and Meserve was third.
For the men, Chris Woolston was second in the 100 back in 57.40 and third in the 200 free while Ibler added a second in the 100 fly to his win in the 50. Mike Trumbower was third in the 1000 free. The Saint team of Matt Feldman, Dave Burnham, Geoff Walano and Trumbower won the 400 free relay in 3:40.39. |
