SAINT MEN DOWN SKIDMORE & NAZARETH; WOMEN BEAT SKIDMORE, FALL TO NAZARETH

Nov. 1: Senior Mike Murray led the St. Lawrence men's swimming and diving team with first-place finishes in the 200 Free (1:49.42) and the 100 Breast (1:04.56) as they Saints defeated Skidmore and Nazareth in their home opener. The women's team defeated Skidmore 88-28, but fell to Nazareth 70-51.

The men's 200 Medley Relay (1:47.32) and the 200 Free Relay (1:35.59) garnered first-place showings for the Saints. Brian Wasserstein, Tim Aker, Chris Giovino and Murray swam the 200 Medley. While Wasserstein, Aker, Jasper Burch and Steve Walano swam the 200 Free Relay. A pair of freshmen swam to first-place finishes for St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon. Burch finished first in the 50 Free in 23.70 and Giovino won the 200 IM in 2:12.93, nearly seven seconds faster than the second place finisher. Wasserstein won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.85 and Aker won the 100 Backstroke in 58.63.

On the women's side, the 200 Medley Relay team swam to a first-place finish in 1:59.02. Kim Watcke, Caitlin Fleming, Jamie Aiken and Ashley McCarthy swam the relay. Watcke followed up with a first-place swim in the 50 Free (26.02). Meredith Bircher won in the One Meter Diving with a score of 202.00 and finished third in the 3 Meter Dive with a score of 176.80. Senior Joanne Cavallerano swam to second-place finishes in the 100 Free (11:12.40) and the 200 Free (2:02.50).

The Saints travel to Rochester on Friday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m. and then to RIT on Saturday, November 13 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
