Women's Hockey Team Captures Fourth Annual Saints Star Search Championship

On April 14, 2008 the Student Athletic Advisory Committee hosted the St. Lawrence University’s 4 th Annual Star Search. If you were standing outside of Augsbury gym at 8pm you could not only hear laughter and applause, but you could find six of St. Lawrence’s athletic teams either dancing or performing a comedy skit from Mad TV.

The participants for this year Star Search included our Women’s Track, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Hockey, Softball, and the Men’s Soccer Team. Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach Ryan Glennon, who proved to be a close representation of Simon from “American Idol” and both of our Assistant Men’s and Women’s Crew Coaches Lauren Schulz and Tracey Tallman served as judges for the competition.

Even though the competition was tight, there could still only be one winner. The judges ranked up to third place for all to see. Coming in third was the Women’s Lacrosse’s team who danced for the judges and audience to “Rock and Roll Part 2 (The Hey Song)”. In second was Women’s Soccer, who presented a skit from “Mad TV.” Finally, the winners for the 2008 Star Search were the Women’s Hockey Team who danced to “Hey Mickey” in some fabulous costumes straight out of the 80’s.

We would like to thank all of the participating teams and judges for making Star Search such a great event, as well as the audience for their energy. We would also like to send out a thank you to Ben Augliano for his excellent dunking skills between acts and using the correct hoop!
