SAAC Meeting Minutes – April 13, 2008

• Church and Community Program

We will be participating in the Church & Community Program for the last three weeks of school. The three teams to volunteer are: Swimming (April 16), Nordic Skiing (April 23), and Women’s Ice Hockey (April 30).

• Star Search
• 6 teams are participating (we need your music!)
• Please show up on time
• 3 Judges: Assistant Crew Coaches – Lauren Schulz & Tracey Tallman

Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach – Ryan Glennon

• Collecting money at the door are Katie Palmer and Matt Sonagere
• Isaac Noyes will be the MC
• Teams are encouraged to get their teams to come out and support the event

• Extra SAAC Money
• No lounge as of right now not because of lack of space
• Should we use the money to put towards a Kiosk

~ Talk was brought up about spending the extra SAAC money by buying a comouter and installing it on a wall either in Newell or Augsbury (hopefully in the future there will be on in each) for students to have access to a computer while over in the athletic facilities. This is one thing that is lacking as students do not have access to computer to check their email or scores or anything. It would almost be like a kiosk type of thing instead of spending it pizza or shirts etc. People generally thought it was a good idea and were really encouraging about the idea

• End of the Year Meeting
• End of the year meeting will be NEXT SUNDAY APRIL 20 AT 8 PM IN RM 124
• Seniors are to think of possible underclassmen who can replace them who would be good a being a positive and enthusiastic SAAC member. They are to invite these prospective members to the meeting
• We really encourage full representation at the meeting (lots of discussion) on the role of SAAC and the future of the organization.

• Programming Ideas for Next Year
• Sexual violence prevention – “For athletes BY athletes” actual athletes would come in and talk about sexual violence prevention.
• Gambling
• Mental toughness
• Other – if you have any other suggestions on speakers and/or topics for next year please don’t hesitate to let one of the officers, Meg or Austin know!
